Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to what we get asked most. Have a question that's not here? Contact us.

What's the difference between subtitles and closed captions?

Subtitles assume the viewer can hear the audio but doesn't understand the language, so they only include translated or same-language dialogue. Closed captions assume the viewer can't hear the audio at all, so they include sound effects, music cues, and speaker labels in addition to dialogue. If your video needs to meet accessibility requirements, you likely need captions, not subtitles.

How long does transcription take?

Standard turnaround is typically 24 to 48 hours depending on file length and audio quality, with rush options available for tighter deadlines. Longer files, poor audio quality, or multiple overlapping speakers can extend that timeline, and we'll confirm turnaround before starting so there are no surprises.

How is pricing calculated?

Pricing is based on the length of the audio or video and the complexity of the project, including audio quality, language pair, and turnaround time. See our pricing page for a full breakdown, or request a quote for an exact price on your project.

What file formats do you accept and deliver?

We accept most common audio and video formats, including MP3, WAV, MP4, and MOV. Transcripts are delivered in Word, PDF, or plain text. Subtitles and captions are delivered as SRT, VTT, or other formats depending on your platform, or burned directly into the video if that's what you need.

Do you offer dubbing, or just subtitles?

We offer both, along with text to voice narration and audio translation. Dubbing replaces the original audio with a recorded track in another language, which costs more and takes longer than subtitling but removes the reading burden from viewers entirely.

How do you handle confidential content?

Confidential projects, including legal, medical, and unreleased media content, are handled under a signed confidentiality agreement, with access limited to the specific team assigned to the project. Let us know when requesting a quote if your project requires this.

Can you handle projects in multiple languages at once?

Yes. Many of our clients need the same content transcribed, subtitled, or dubbed across several languages, and we maintain terminology consistency across all of them using shared glossaries built for the project.

What if my audio quality is poor?

We'll review the file and let you know upfront if audio quality will affect turnaround or accuracy, rather than delivering a transcript with guessed sections and calling it final. In some cases, we can flag unclear sections for your review rather than guessing.

Do you work with ongoing or high-volume projects?

Yes. We offer volume pricing and standing turnaround windows for clients with a regular content schedule, including corporate training teams, e-learning providers, and content creators publishing on an ongoing basis.

How do I get started?
